Ko Au, Ko e Tangata Lelei is a transformative three-module workshop designed for boys in Tonga. Rooted in Tongan culture and values, the program guides boys through a journey of self-discovery, emotional strength and respectful relationships.

Over three weeks, boys explore identity (Ko Hai Au?), challenge harmful stereotypes about masculinity and build the skills to stand up against bullying and violence – not with fists, but with courage, empathy and kindness.

WCCC’s ‘Ofa-Ki-Levuka Guttenbeil-Likiliki says “this program is special because it doesn’t just teach boys what not to do – it shows them who they can become. It reconnects them to cultural wisdom, family pride and personal vision, while making space for real conversations about feelings, role models and safe friendships.

Designed for Pacific boys, based on years of working with young students at Toloa College, this is a bold step toward raising a new generation of tangata lelei: emotionally strong, culturally grounded and unafraid to lead with heart….

WCCC is collaborating with Toloa’s Welfare and Wellbeing Committee to roll out this pilot and started last night with Forms 1 and 2 students at Toloa.
